Visit from Howmet Aerospace

Mrs Blatchford has worked with Howmet Aerospace to secure a significant grant to support STEM teaching and learning at St Nicholas. Howmet Aerospace make engines for aeroplanes and are a fantastic example of how STEM learning can be applied in real life! Fantastic equipment has been purchased using the grant, such as bee bots, robots called Botley, robotic mice and micro bits! STEM is going to underpin our curriculum for the rest of the academic year. Howmet came into St Nicholas on Tuesday this week and ran workshops with all of the year groups so that they could understand how important STEM learning is and to launch our learning project. Amazingly, a member of the Howmet Aerospace team was a former pupil of St Nicholas!
